At about 4:00 I began having contractions and let my family know I was not feeling so well. At 5:45, I called the neighbor Cheryl to take the girls (Emilee and Elli) to VBS as the contractions were now 3-4 minutes apart. I then jumped in the shower because I thought if I was having a baby, I wanted to look good:) The ride to the hospital was uncomfortable to say the least. We checked in at 6:45. I was 5 cm, 90%, and 0 station. We got into our room and I couldn't get an epidural right away because I never did my last blood work. So, I was in pain, not feeling well, getting sick, and quite angry, as is my reaction to pain. So, they called the anesthsiologist who decided since I had no health history I could get the epidural. Things got much better and here I am smiling:) at 7:10ish, I was 6 cm and happy! Then, an hour later I was at the same point and they considered breaking my water. I decided to wait another hour. My nurse rolled me on my side and almost immediately, I could tell this baby was ready to make his appearance. (I asked Brent to check and make sure the baby wasn;t coming out!) At 9:15, the nurse came back, emptied my bladder and checked my progress. She accidentally broke my water, yelled "S---" because it scared her and Micah kicked like crazy, then said we needed to call the doctor right in as I was ready! Dr. Sarah Kidd came in, prepped, and I began to puch with the next contraction at 9:26. The second contraction I could tell he was ready. He came on the third contraction at 9:33.
I was so amazed at feeling the birthing process as the epidural did not totally numb me. How precious is this little guy, Micah Gregory John Ferguson. 6 lbs 15 oz, 21.5 in.
My first meeting with him was precious.
Elli and my parents were right outside the door and were able to hear his first little cry. Here is our first family picture as the Four Fergusons. What an amazingly quick and wonderful delivery of this newest addition to our family. More pictures to follow through his first few days.
